If you're an average driver like me, it's the strategy and planning I enjoy. One example of a lack of planning that most here would never be caught dead doing. There was a Race Pro race in the GT Club class. The car I picked was the only one that did not run out of gas in 15 laps. The other cars might have been faster, but I had the best gas mileage.
Passing strategy;
Sometimes the best pass is one you don't have to do. I recently started a race at Sebring with someone behind me whose skills were unknown. So I gently let him pass. Dogged him for a long time, (at the risk of falling behind to the leaders) and then when he finally made a mistake, (a little one at that) I passed him and easily maintained a safe distance as I had been saving my tires up to that point.
It's also a good idea if you have someone very aggressive behind you, to just let him pass if there are other competitors nearby. Let the guy take someone else out of the race, then when they both have damage, it will be easy to pass the both of them. :Chainsaw:

This is a good thread, and a nice opening post by Pred. I'm still new to motorsport and some tactics are very new to me, so it's always nice to read stuff like this.

As for race planning, I'm complete rubbish. I get so caught up driving the wheels off a car for 1 lap that I loose track of what I'm doing, so I gotta get better at that. Especially tire ware, haven't raced Forza enough to know if it is as big a factor as it was in Race Pro, but I nonetheless need to do a better job with it. I particularly remember in RP that my cars world be shot to hell halfway through the races, and people just droned on by. I'll tell you what, if Monk wasn't such a good teammate I would have never won that race at Brands Hatch in S3.Dude practically pushed me to the finish line after my car was sliding all over the place. lol

And overtaking, sheesh, not my strong suit. My usual plan is to wait for an opening. I'll try and use those tactics above in the future though. Can't wait to really sink my teeth in with the Fanatec. :bunny: :bunny:

Brembo and Monk should know a few sneaky tricks to overtaking and defending, having also both been top level karters ;)

As for Pred being fast on Forza, yeah I'm serious. From what I remember the guy was lightning in the ETCC.

I know a thing or two from my years in karting aswell, but I was always known as a pretty dangerous driver so a lot of my passing manouvers ended badly.

I remember trying to pass a backmarker on the last lap while leading and instead of going up the inside I pretty much went over the top of him, into the barrier and it cost me the whole meeting.
